    Description

2nd-year maturity. Delphinium cultorum. Delphinium Pacific Giant Series Seeds. Non-GMO, Perennial. Growing Pacific Giant Series delphinium seeds this season is a classic and vibrant way to invigorate a stale flowerbed, walkway, or patio. Pacific Giant Series seeds mature into dazzling 48-60 inch tall delphiniums bursting with hardy blooming stalks, perfect as a fresh cut substitution to more traditional larkspur or snapdragon. Pacific Giant Series delphiniums boast nearly 100% fully double blooms and are cultivated for their dense layering of color. Pacific Giant Series seeds promise some of the tallest and most robust of all delphiniums, drawing butterflies and important pollinators to the garden all season long. Approx 15,000 seeds per ounce.

Growing Non-GMO Delphinium Pacific Giant Series Flower Seeds

Delphiniums are known to be a challenging grow and best started indoors 10-12 weeks before the frost. Pacific Giant Series seeds will germinate in 7-14 days with full lighting, then place seedlings under a grow light and harden off to an equally sunny spot either in the garden or indoors. Starts may require early staking that must be readjusted as the plant matures. Plant 3-4 Pacific Giant Series delphinium seeds ½ inch deep and 36 inches apart in organically rich, evenly moist, and well-drained soil in full sun. Delphinium is known to require considerable maintenance including staking, disease prevention, and heavy pruning and deadheading.

The most common problem with germination is cold soil. The soil temperature needs to be 60-70°F for any of the seeds to have a chance to come up. Apply a balanced fertilizer every two weeks during the growing season. Stake gently and shelter from strong winds. Deadhead the dead flower spikes as far down as the next flowering shoot begins. Prune the entire plant to ground level in the late autumn. Where harsh winters are expected, a thick layer of mulch placed above the root ball can protect the plant in case of a deep, hard freeze.

Delphinium Pacific Giant Series in the Flower Garden

Delphiniums are a classic of any reputable cut flower garden. These impressive blooms are sure to wow all who see them while in the garden or after being cut for a bouquet or arrangement. They are commonly used as a background plant to enhance other flowering annuals or perennials.

Landscape Use of Delphinium Pacific Giant Series

Pacific Giant Series Delphinium is frequently used along fence lines and property borders. Try interplanting them with peonies, asters, daylilies, chrysanthemums, alliums, and more! .

About Delphinium Pacific Giant Series Garden Seeds

Delphiniums are widely loved for their beauty but also their symbolism. They symbolize goodness, cheerfulness, and protection. Gift these seeds or starts to those who may be mourning the loss of a loved one or need encouragement in some way. They are also July’s official birth flower and make great gifts for all those summer babies.

Use Delphinium in fresh-cut arrangements as a focal point adding height, texture, and bulk to the grouping.

The genus Delphinium shares the title "larkspur" with the flowering genus Consolida and is also widely known to be toxic to humans, pets, and livestock.

Delphinium cultorum, more typically known as delphinium, is native to prairie clearings, woodlands, and river valleys across Europe and Siberia, having naturalized throughout most of the northern hemisphere. Delphinium is one of the most popularly cultivated blooms ever, and has been bred and hybridized since about 1578.
